FCC publishes Global Broadband Study draft

berkman center In July the FCC announced that, in the context of a its own broadband planning, it had commissioned the Berkman Center to do a study of the state of broadband development worldwide.

A draft – Next Generation Connectivity:A review of broadband Internet transitions
and policy from around the world
– has just been published. The FCC is asking for comments before Nov 16.

In Search of Jefferson’s Moose: Notes on the State of Cyberspace

Mar 17 2009 Berkman Center: David G. Post, Stern Professor of Law at the Beasley School of Law at Temple University, discusses questions raised by his recently-published book, In Search of Jefferson’s Moose: Notes on the State of Cyberspace (Oxford), which re-creates Jefferson’s encyclopedia of the New World (“Notes on the State of Virginia,” 1786), but this time for cyberspace. Berkman introduces Herdict Web browser add-in

herdict The Berkman Center at Harvard has announced an new extension to their Herdict “verdicts of the herd” project.. Herdict Web aggregates reports of inaccessible sites, allowing users to compare data to see if inacessibility is a shared problem. By crowd-sourcing data from around the world, Herdict can then document accessibility for any web site.

The event, which is in the form of a discussion, is presented by the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard Law School, Jeffrey Cunard and Bruce Keller, partners at Debevoise & Plimpton LLP, & Big Think. Susan Crawford, Visiting Professor at Yale Law School, will join the discussion. Yale University Press are the publishers of the book.
