On November 12 through 14, Eugene Lang College The New School for Liberal Arts hosted an international conference titled, “The Internet as Playground and Factory ,” exploring the meaning and changing face of labor in the digital era. The conference inaugurates Lang College’s new conference series, “The Politics of Digital Media.” Schedule.
The Berkman Center at Harvard has announced an new extension to their Herdict “verdicts of the herd” project.. Herdict Web aggregates reports of inaccessible sites, allowing users to compare data to see if inacessibility is a shared problem. By crowd-sourcing data from around the world, Herdict can then document accessibility for any web site.

Jonathan Zittrain will debate the premise of his book ‘The Future of the Internet – and How to Stop It.’ on Thursday Nov 6 – 3.30pm-5pm – at the New America Foundation in Washington DC.
Back in March, introduced by Vint Cerf, Jonathan Zittrain and Larry Lessig gave a talk at Google’s Washington DC offices. Google has, possibly encouraged by its Viacom harassment, just posted the video up on YouTube. About 58 minutes in, after Zittrain has given his book synopsis – with which I trust we are all now familiar, Lessig, drawing on earlier ‘Z theory’, gets into the meat of exactly the privacy issues recently highlighted by Viacom’s actions.
This Friday April 11 2008 Professor Jonathan Zittrain of the Oxford Internet Institute will be previewing his book “The Future of the Internet — And How to Stop It” in NYC. The event, which is in the form of a discussion, is presented by the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard Law School, Jeffrey Cunard and Bruce Keller, partners at Debevoise & Plimpton LLP, & Big Think. Susan Crawford, Visiting Professor at Yale Law School, will join the discussion. Yale University Press are the publishers of the book.
