This Saturday, March 8 2014, is International Women’s Day and this year’s theme is “Equality for women is progress for all”. To mark the occasion Internet Society President & CEO Kathy Brown, and Trustees Desiree Miloshevic, Theresa Swinehart and Narelle Clark, have posted Weaving Women of the World into the Global Tapestry of Modern Digital Life an article around the importance of women in ICT. The article highlights several initiatives across the ISOC community that support women interested in technology careers and bring Internet access and training to women around the world.
Here at ISOC-NY we actively support local organizations who actively recruit girls into computer science, such as the New York City Foundation for Computer Science Education (CSNYC) and Girls Who Code. We have also lent international assistance to the ITU’s Tech Needs Girls campaign.
If you have a story about, or would like to pay tribute to, women in tech – the Internet Society has an open call for related anecdotes, links, media etc at Inspiring Change: Celebrating Achievements of Women in Tech
