Following the FTC’s Do-Not-Track button proposal of late last year, Mozilla has revealed details of its implementation in Firefox.
The option would allow users to transmit a Do Not Track HTTP header with every click or page view in Firefox, to provide a way for people to opt-out of online behavioral advertising (OBA).
The Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory at MIT has released list.it – “a simple, free, open-source note-keeping tool to help you manage the tons of little information bits you need to keep track of each day.” It’s available for Firefox version 3.0 or greater and for iPhone and Android.
There are just four hotkeys to remember: One opens and closes the frame, one searches through your notes, one pops up a quick entry bar at the bottom of your browser and one adds the current URL. Notes can be tagged. List.it also allows for synchronization between different browsers by saving your list on a central server

2/28 As noted above Microsoft sent their own solution to W3C. It has now been accepted as a standard. It involves users invoking a filter list from a trusted 3rd party provider as per diagram below.
