The New York City Department of Information Technology and Technology (DoITT) has recently released a Request for Information (RFI) regarding the fostering of in-home adoption of broadband technologies in New York City as it relates to funding potentially available from the Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP).
The Broadband Technology Opportunities Program is a portion of funding within the American Recovery and Renewal Act (ARRA) specifically targeting broadband adoption nationwide.
Of the two RFIs DoITT has released, one is targeted to broadband providers and seeks input on the provision of low-cost service for low-income residents. The other RFI is directed to entities that may help deliver these programs more broadly – e.g., digital inclusion non-profits. The deadline for submission for both RFIs is June 26th, 2009 at 5:00pm EST.
