- Access to the internet should be a fundamental right, bridging the digital divide and empowering communities worldwide. I envision initiatives that work closely with governments, tech organizations, and non-profits to bring reliable, affordable internet access to underserved regions. This includes advocating for policies that support infrastructure development and digital literacy programs.
- As the internet evolves, so do the risks associated with data privacy and cybersecurity. The Society should champion strong protections for users by establishing and promoting best practices, advocating for robust regulatory frameworks, and supporting the development of secure internet technologies. Educating users on data security and privacy rights is equally essential to building a safer digital world.
- The Society should continue to support open standards that foster collaboration and innovation while preventing monopolistic control of the digital space. This includes advocating for fair practices and policies that ensure internet resources are universally accessible, navigable, and inclusive.
- Equipping people worldwide with the skills needed to use the internet meaningfully is critical. I envision expanding digital literacy programs, focusing especially on marginalized and vulnerable populations. By making digital tools and resources accessible and understandable, the Society can help more people actively participate in the global digital economy.
