Trenton, NJ gets citywide Wi-Fi network

Trenton, New Jersey has selected E-Path Communications to deploy a citywide wireless broadband network for the city’s own use and for public Internet access.

Although E-Path will be bearing the cost of the deployment, it will sell connectivity services back to the city (similar to the Minneapolis deal with US Internet). Recently, Suffolk and Nassau counties also chose E-Path to build their countywide network on Long Island. Critics of both deals are saying that Trenton and Long Island have chosen a partner that has little track record and not a lot of funding, and that, these communities are going down the path that did not work for San Francisco, Houston and the other cities left high and dry by EarthLink.
