  • Muniwireless is the authority on wide-area wireless broadband projects worldwide, including regional and municipal networks. Although we often use the word "city," rural municipalities receive equal coverage here because they are leading the fight for affordable, fast, universal access to the Internet. We also cover the products, technologies, and standards that comprise public broadband networks, and the organizations that design, install, and maintain them.
  • Older Adults Technology Services (OATS) engages, trains and supports older adults in using technology to improve their quality of life and enhance their social and civic engagement. Digital technologies - computers, digital cameras, mobile phones, the Internet - have become basic tools for daily living. Unfortunately, many older adults are reluctant to use them, resulting in increased isolation, limited access to information, higher costs for goods and services, and fewer opportunities for public and civic participation.
  • Free Culture @ NYU A free culture is one where all members are free to participate in its transmission and evolution, without artificial limits on who can participate or in what way. The free culture movement seeks to develop this culture by promoting four things: creativity and innovation, communication and free expression, public access to knowledge and citizens' civil liberties.
  • Creative Commons uses private rights to create public goods: creative works set free for certain uses. Like the free software and open-source movements, our ends are cooperative and community-minded, but our means are voluntary and libertarian. We work to offer creators a best-of-both-worlds way to protect their works while encouraging certain uses of them — to declare “some rights reserved.” Creative Commons Salons are global events focused on building a community of artists and developers around Creative Commons licenses, standards, and technology. They are held on a regular basis in NYC.
  • CampInteractive Based in the Tech & Trek Center in the Bronx, CI actively engages youth through academic tutoring, monthly outdoor trips, and technology workshops.
  • OneWebDay NYC NYC organizing group of the annual Sep 22nd global celebration of the Internet in all its myriad forms.
