The evening will include Chelsea Peretti, Amy Poehler, John Roberts, Joe Mande, Anthony Atamanuik and Laura Krafft, many whom are notable for gaining fame on the internet, from Roberts’ Youtube monologues to Peretti’s episodic online shows including the 6-part series “All My Exes.

YouTomb

YouTomb is a research project of MIT Free Culture. The purpose of the project is to investigate what kind of videos are subject to takedown notices due to allegations of copyright infringement with particular emphasis on those for which the takedown may be mistaken. Although the initial focus is on videos hosted by YouTube, it is planned to extend it to other video collections. Continue reading

RIPE NCC RIS case study on YouTube hijacking

RIPE NCCOn Sunday, 24 February 2008, in what was apparently a politically directed attempt to block YouTube, Pakistan Telecom started an unauthorized announcement of the prefix 208.65.153.0/24 – a YouTube IP – to divert local traffic away from the site. One of Pakistan Telecom’s upstream providers, PCCW Global forwarded this announcement to the rest of the Internet, which resulted in the hijacking of YouTube traffic on a global scale. The RIPE NCC Routing Information Service has published a detailed study on how this came to pass. Continue reading
